FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Edmonton, AB (April 28, 2026) - New Vietnamese-Edmonton cultural non-profit HYPERLINK "https://chungtacungnhau.ca/"Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau is proud to present the city’s only Vietnamese Art & Heritage Exhibit launching this May during Asian Heritage Month.
HYPERLINK "https://www.chungtacungnhau.ca/news/where-we-came-from-where-we-go-from-here-exhibit-may-2026"Where We Came From (and where we go from here): A Vietnamese Art & Heritage Exhibit, features community stories and reflections, portraits, art installations, immersive vignettes, and more pieces designed to help both Vietnamese-Edmontonians and the broader public better understand and reflect on the Vietnamese-Edmonton story. Through themes of migration, identity, family, resilience, and belonging, the exhibit invites visitors to connect with lived experiences that are deeply personal, while also widely relatable across communities. It is the first exhibit of its kind in Edmonton and the only local Vietnamese-centered Asian Heritage Month initiative.
“Many of us grew up hearing fragments of our parents’ or grandparents’ stories. This is an opportunity to honour those experiences, preserve them, and invite the community to better understand the Vietnamese-Edmonton journey,” says Linda Hoang, co-founder of Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau. “We’re not just sharing history, we’re creating space for people to step inside history, to feel it, and to reflect on how those stories continue to shape who we are today and where we go from here.”
“We’re proud to contribute something that is deeply local, personal, and rooted in Edmonton’s Vietnamese community,” says Jessica Truong, co-founder of Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau. “Through thoughtful art installations, powerful community stories and portraits, recreated living spaces and immersive vignettes, visitors are invited to reflect on the Vietnamese immigrant experience.”
The exhibit also includes a hanging art installation featuring 500 paper boats, symbolizing the harrowing journey many Vietnamese community members took before arriving in Canada, as well as a multigenerational portrait series from local photographer and artist Dawn Graves.
EXHIBIT LOCATION:
Bowladrome Gallery at ArtsHub Creative Studios 10131 97 St. (basement)
